However, this is a very easy case to win if the vehicle is not yours and you were not aware that it was uninsured. For example, it is illegal to drive a car without insurance. Traffic violations can be extremely complicated. If you have a suspended license and never paid the surcharge for a no car insurance penalty, you can be fined an additional $3,000 if you are caught driving. If the charges are more complicated, fines can increase substantially. If you fail to pay these surcharges, your driver’s license can be suspended, a lien may be placed on your property and your wages may be garnished.
